Do any of you feel more stomach pain after you urinate &/or have a BM? I'm trying to figure out why I feel worse instead of better after that.

Thanks Cristie-
It was a yahoo health group, not an actual website, so I had a hard time finding it, but finally did! I'm waiting member approval. Thanks for your diligence.
I have one big question. So much of what I've been reading has been my personal experience as well. Has anyone here ever had just one stent or sphincterotomy that worked the first time and didn't need additional procedures? I was under the major wrong impression from my gastro that you have an ERCP, if it's the problem they fix it there, and that's it. What I've been reading seems so far from that. I have felt so miserable for so long, that to read I'll probably continue to feel crummy even after treatment is very disheartening. Is there any good news?
BTW-at least my gastro is recommending Dr. Cotton, who seems to have a great rep here. That's the only encouraging thing I've read!

Thanks again for the info. Had a pretty good week as long as I took my enzymes 1 hour before I ate & only minimal pain but had dumping syndrome a few times. Starting having bad pain last night and still having it along with tremendous nausea. My upper back is killing me too! Trying to do research to see what my next step should be since drs. keep saying they don't suspect pancreatitis. Emailed Dr. Sherman @ Indiana University and he told me to keep him posted on my progress w/my Las Vegas doctor. Wish me luck; he just cancelled & will need to reschedule my Monday appt.

Yes Berta, I lived through 3 Hida scans in my life, the 1st one was June 2004 and I was having severe RUQ pain. The Hida completely reproduced the pain and I was told i had a "Borderline Normal" Ejection Fraction in NJ. Then I had the test again in January 2005 with a worse result and found out that in NY, both ejection fractions were considered "Abnormal", that is >27% and it meant ".....that my Gall Bladder was dying inside my body and that it had to be removed." (This was Benjamin Stark of LIJ Hospital who at the time was a GI professor and was the first to tell me 1 week prior that he suspected Sphincter of Oddi disease in my case, but I was 38 and too young for an ERCP to proove it.) My gallbladder was removed and 48 hours later I had to have a 3rd Hida Scan to show the ER & GI team that I was leaking bile into my fossa. The pain had me on the floor of the Hida Waiting room as I waited for an attendent to pick me up and transport me back to the ER.
Again Sept 2006 when I was screaming w/ SOD pain in an ER, I was admitted for an 8 day stay and ERCP was considered for a 48 hour period while I was starved and hooked up to an IV with an subsequent Resistant E.coli Bladder infection and a migraine from the lack of food. Then again ERCP was declined and a Hida was performed while I was on Dilaudid. I have very little memory of that one. I hope to NEVER have another one !

Hi Berta:

I did not experience any kind of pain or discomfort following my secretin MRCP. My secretin MRCP was normal and they found 1 stone in the gallbladder. They did not do a HIDA scan w/CCK.

I did experience more discomfort than they said I would post laparoscopic cholecystectomy (about 2 weeks worth) and I've talked to others who also weren't feeling particularly spry or ready to head back to work right away.

I think some of "those" who tell us our tests are normal and that we should not be feeling any pain have never even had some of these procedures ;(

DOROTHY: This post is directed at Dorothy although everyone is welcome to make a note of a website I recommended and for whatever reason she has been unable
to get to it ;(

The reason I am posting this here is that most of us have a "REPLY" rectangle underneath our post but there wasn't one under yours/Dorothy's.

Dorothy, I will write it down again here and please let me know if you continue to
have problems getting to this website so here it is:

Pancreatitis_ARayofHope

Thanks everyone for continuing to post such information for all of us. Quick question, when you all had MRCP's w/secretin and HIDA scans w/CCK after the gallbladder removal, did you experience extreme pain? I did & wanted to pass out from it but was told those tests came back "NORMAL" and there was no reason for me to really feel the pain. I was told that's just "common" in some people.

Cristie-I didn't find the website pancreatitis_arayofhope. I tried both .com and .org. I'd appreciate an additional link if you have one.

Thanks Christe,

I followed some links and found the information I needed.

It's too much to post here but it seems there are 2 types of sphincter responses in divisum which explains, symptomatic and non symptomatic patiens.

Brett -
Much of my information comes from the website :
  Pancreatitis_ARayofHope

Kris and Judi have mentioned the website here and I think you would benefit
majorly by joining. There are of course other websites to which you can be a
member but I would strongly recommend that one.

Have a Good Weekend !
